ProVia Double-Hung Windows

The window portion of the project focused on three areas of the home.
We installed three new double-hung windows along one wall, three more on the sunroom wall at the back of the home, and two additional windows on the wall beside the entry door.
The new ProVia vinyl double-hung windows give the home a cleaner, more consistent look while making everyday maintenance easier.
Double-hung windows are especially practical because both sashes operate. That makes it easier to control airflow, and because the sashes tilt inward, homeowners can clean the exterior glass from inside the house without dragging out a ladder and cleaning from the outside. And unlike painted wood, vinyl doesn’t need to be scraped and repainted every few years.
Installing the Windows
As with any window replacement project, getting the fit right starts with careful preparation.
The team removes the existing windows and prepares each opening for the new unit. The team then sets, levels, secures, and seals the new windows to create a tight fit. Exterior and interior finishing work completes the installation and leaves the openings looking clean and finished.
For a Central New York home, that tight seal matters. Aging windows can allow drafts and heat loss, while properly installed replacement windows can help make indoor temperatures more consistent through our cold winters. Patriot recommends insulated glass and properly fitted windows as part of improving comfort and reducing energy loss in CNY homes.

A New Entry Door (With the Blinds Built In!)

The entry received a new ProVia door along with a matching storm door.
One standout feature of the new entry door is the blinds built directly into the door. What that means is that instead of hanging blinds on the inside of the door, they’re sealed between the glass. The result is a cleaner look with nothing to dust, no cords hanging down, and no blinds to bump or damage when you use the door.
A simple slider controls the blinds, making it easy to adjust privacy and natural light without reaching around a set of traditional window coverings.
Why Add a Storm Door?
The storm door adds another layer of protection at the home’s main entrance. It shields the primary entry door from the weather, protects the door’s finish, and can provide useful ventilation during the shoulder seasons when you want fresh air without fully exposing the main entry door.
For this project, the matching ProVia storm door completes the entry and gives the whole front of the home a more finished appearance.
Custom Aluminum Wrapping

One detail that really brings this project together is the custom white aluminum wrapping around the exterior trim. Rather than leaving painted wood exposed around the new windows and door, we bend aluminum coil to fit over the existing exterior wood trim. Each piece was shaped and installed to create clean, consistent lines around the openings.
That does more than improve the appearance.
With the exterior wood covered, there’s less exposed material to maintain and repaint. The crisp white finish also creates a clean transition between the windows and entry door and the home’s exterior. It’s one of those details you may not notice at first, but it makes a big difference in how finished the project looks.
The Finished Result
This Cicero home received more than replacement windows and a new entry door. The project brought several improvements together in one coordinated upgrade:
- More natural light: The new windows brighten the interior and give the rooms a fresh, open appearance.
- Improved comfort: Properly fitted replacement windows and doors help create a tighter, more weather-resistant envelope for Central New York’s changing seasons.
- Easier maintenance: Tilt-in double-hung windows make exterior glass easier to clean, while vinyl and aluminum exterior finishes eliminate the need for repainting and much of the upkeep associated with exposed wood.
- A cleaner exterior: The new windows, entry door, storm door, and custom white wrapping give the home a noticeably fresher look.
- A more finished entry: The between-the-glass blinds and matching storm door add function without adding visual clutter.
From the brighter interior to the clean exterior lines, this Cicero home shows how a window and door project can improve both the everyday experience of a home and its curb appeal.
